A UNIQUE VISION OF JEWISH EDUCATION
The Choice is Yours
A non-denominational school, the Tzedek School complements the family as a nurturer of the religious and educational values of Judaism. We inculcate pride in the contributions Judaism and her practitioners have made to humanity in the fields of law, government, arts and sciences and to the pursuit of social justice in the world. We celebrate a love for the land of Israel, her people and language as part of our Jewish identity.
"The proper guidance during the life of a man should be the weight that he puts
upon ethics and the amount of consideration that he has for others.
Education has a great role to play in this respect." Albert Einstein
LEARNING PROGRAMS
ELEMENTARY GRADES
HEBREW LANGUAGE: We offer students an environment infused with the sounds of Jewish tradition, from Hebrew language to holiday melodies and the spiritual poetry of the prayer book. This program will teach both reading and Hebrew vocabulary, as well as learn the prayer skills necessary to participate in a variety of Synagogue Services.
BIBLE: Students will learn the biblical narrative upon which Jewish holidays are based. The stories of the Bible as the source of the moral essence of Jewish existence are studied for their implications in our lives as members of the Jewish community and the community of all people.
TEEN HERITAGE SCHOOL
ETHICS: Students will learn to integrate Jewish moral and social values into their daily lives by an examination of the topics central to adolescent life and development; body health (drugs and alcohol), emotional health (sexuality and friendship) and social success (issues of authority and responsibility).
CURRENT EVENTS: The geography, government and cultural institutions of modern Israel and her place in global affairs are studied through the development of modern Zionism. Students examine current issues through the lens of Jewish ethical values and Zionist ideals, the contributions and accomplishments of Jewish leaders in the fields of law, government, the arts and sciences and most importantly, to the pursuit of social justice in the world.
JEWISH LITERATURE: Students will taste of the rich body of literature of Jewish writers of various genres - poetry, historical fiction and short stories - in order to develop an ear for Jewish sensibilities and sense of humor as well as the vernacular of Jewish life.
